I was afraid to purchase this product because of the only review on this website. But I am so happy I did. It's beautiful and only the table top is particle board-which you can't even tell because the crafting is so good. I love the color-it is deep and rich. The chairs and base are solid wood. Assembly took some time. Not incredibly hard, although the instruction were not very clear. Disappointed that some parts of the chairs look like they could have used another coat if paint but its not noticeable. Overall my husband and I are quite happy.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Assembly wasn't terribly difficult. We are a family of three girls and had no problem. However, just pulling two of the pieces out of the box, the table top and one chair seat, they slipped and my fingernails stripped the finish right off the side. So after having this table set for one day it's already scratched and damaged. It's made of particle board which is heavy. Be careful!
