I picked it out as a surprise for my wife, she loves it. We used it in a bankette, it wasn't quite tall enough but I easily raised it by drilling one new hole for each footing, took 5 minutes and worked out great!

I ordered Black and Cherry. It is Black and Brown, purchase order says Black and Cherry. Beautiful table, but if I ordered Cherry I expect Cherry, not brown. The picture is misleading, it looks dark Cherry.

This table was a hit; a neighbor described it as an "instant heirloom". When it's extended, you can definitely get at least 8 chairs around it in a pinch; the pedestal design is very versatile. The built-in hinged leaf is very clever and the mechanism works well and has been admired by mechanically inclined guests. However, a simple removable leaf could have been a tad wider and would make the table less heavy. Extension leaves are easy to store in a closet.The instructions were a little confusing: they refer to the legs as the "Pedestal" and they call the turned, vertical support pedestal the "Base" (I believe). But the hardware is very uniform and there was really only one way to do it. Definitely a two person job, though, to turn it right side up.[...] This was one of the factors that influenced my purchase. (Keep jobs in US and shorter shipping distance for less fuel use.) When we had the table top upside down on the floor, the first thing I noticed was a stamp saying "Made in Malaysia". A representative from Hayneedle said this could mean that the wood came from Malaysia and maybe some of the manufacturing was done there but that the table would have been finished in NH. I guess that's better than nothing.That aside, the table is lovely and sturdy and I enjoy using it.

I am delighted with this table. I wanted a center pedistal where 4,6, or 8 people could gather round for dining or card games without dodging 4 corner legs. The butterfly leaf is perfect because it does not have to be stored in a closet.
